Youth from Likoni gathered today at the Manyatta Center under the banner of Manyatta Entertainment to showcase their diverse talents and advocate for increased support from the media. The vibrant event, supported by the Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK) through USAID, brought together journalists from various media houses across the coastal region.

The showcase featured a range of captivating performances, including music, spoken word poetry, and acting, highlighting the depth of talent in Likoni. The Manyatta Talent Center, led by the energetic Mr. Sogora, popularly known as MC 001, has long been a hub for nurturing creativity and reforming youth through art. Over the years, the center has successfully transformed the lives of many young people by giving them a platform to express themselves positively.

Speaking at the event, AMWIK’s Program Coordinator, Lorna Seneiya Sempele, praised Mr. Sogora’s efforts and the center’s impact on the community. She pledged to rally sponsors who would help elevate the talents showcased at the center to an international stage. “The work being done here is inspiring, and it deserves all the support it can get,” said Sempele.

Additionally, she took the opportunity to educate the youth on key aspects of budgeting, encouraging them to share the knowledge with their peers to foster financial literacy and empowerment.

Mr. Sogora, in his address, appealed to media professionals for their continued support in promoting grassroots talent. “The media has the power to amplify our voices and help us reach greater heights. Together, we can make grassroots talent shine on national and international platforms,” he said.

The event was a testament to the power of collaboration and the potential of young talent in Likoni to create a brighter future through arts and education.
