A member of a suspected criminal gang (panga boys) in Likoni is fighting for his life in hospital after he was cornered by an angry mob after he allegedly attacked and robbed of a woman at Kibaki Estate area today morning.

The suspect whose details are yet to be established due to his critical condition had allegedly attacked a woman doing away with her handbag. It’s the woman’s desperate screens that attracted the area residents who responded and started pursuing him.

After a moment of chase they cornered him and descended on him with kicks and blows.

Luckily, police officers drawn from Inuka Police station who were on patrol were attracted by the scene and came to his rescue.

The officers escorted him to Likoni Sub-county hospital where he was treated before was transferred to the coast general and referral hospital where he’s currently receiving treatment in critical condition.

Eye witness say the enraged residents went as far as attempting to snatch the suspect from the police vehicle.
