According to the woman, the suspect namely Charles Onderi a prominent businessman in the area who is believed to be well connected to police officers in Mombasa is using his influence to interfere with ongoing investigations.

“He has approached me on several occasions and offered to give me money amounting to Kshs 50,000 to forgo the defilement matter which was reported at Shelly Beach police station under OB number 35/01/05/2024.” The mother said.

She claims that efforts to have the suspect arrested have borne no fruits since the investigating officer has declined to record statements of the victims.

” The investigation officer in the matter approached me and informed me that my daughter had consented to have a sexual affair with the suspect and that they cannot arrest him on this ground,” she stated.

On his part area sub-county police commander, Geoffrey Ruheni noted that he was aware of the matter and he had since recalled the file and assigned it to yet another investigating officer to enable the minor to get justice.

Efforts to reach out to the suspect during the publication of this article were futile since he did not answer phone calls or messages left to him.
