
A local construction firm has moved to the high court seeking for orders ,for compensation following termination of a contract between Sakawa Agencies Limited and China Roads & Bridge Corporation and Capital.
In the suit filed before Mombasa high court judge,Hon.Lady Justice Macharia Florence Wangari , Sakawa Agencies Limited claimed to have on July 16, 2020 been awarded a subcontract for construction of Embankment filling of the Mombasa Likoni floating bridge project by China Roads Bridge & Corporation Kenya on a contract agreement for a sum of 28.3M which was later councelled.
Justice Wangari had earlier ordered court documents to be supplied to all parties before July 3, 2023 when the hearing was set to begin but the China’s construction company through its advocate, professor Albert Mumma requested for more time.
Court documents filed by Sakawa Agencies Ltd shows it supplied materials and heavy machinery, trucks and equipment at a cost of kshs.11,368,773 which the company has declined to pay.
China Roads & Bridge Corporation company which is among the six companies that were blacklisted by WorldBank had won the tender from the government but subcontracted the work to Sakawa Agencies Ltd for Kshs.28,343,863.56.
