Two men have died ,in Likoni Mombasa county after a wall caved in due to the ongoing rains that have been witnessed in Mombasa for the last four days
The duo succumbed to their injuries sustained in the early morning incident and another one hospitalized in critical condition after they got trapped inside a cave they lived in along the banks of the Indian Ocean off Mama Ngina Water front.
According to Abdllahi Athman Athman Kombo , a brother to one of the victims, the three, Abdallah Mwabozda 45, Tsuma Mwastaku aka Reje 40, and Ibrahim Omar 32 were all drug addicts who had their families in Likoni.
Athman said he had visited his brother Abdallah Mwabozda to check on him when he saw a big stone fell on them as they were asleep in one of the caves. Ibrahim Omar was however rescued by police with the help from members of the public and taken to the Coast general hospital where he is receiving treatment in critical condition.
The bodies of Abdallah Mwabozda and Tsuma Mwatsaku were identified by their relatives and taken to the coast general and referral hospital mortuary.
Confirming the incident, Mombasa county police commander, Stephen Matu urged members of the public to keep off from such areas especially during this rain season.
