A Mombasa Court has sentenced two men to two years in prison after they pleaded guilty to charges of stealing a wheel barrow.
The duo Michael Luka Lemalali 38, and John Ndemange Musyoka 53, was convicted on their own plea of guilty by Mombasa senior principal magistrate Vincent Adet.
Police prosecutor, Hilary Isiaho, told the court that the suspects had on February 23,this year at Chaani’s Mlolongo area within Changamwe sub-county,Mombasa county committed the offenses of breaking into a building and committing a felony contrary to section 306[a] of the penal code and Handling stolen goods contrary to section 322 of the penal code.
Isiaho further told the court that, the complainant, Antony Muiruri Njoroge, reported the case at Chaani police station on the same date the convicts stole the wheel barrow, a mild steel trolley, 64 pieces of mild steel square tubes,4 mild steel square pipes and a heavy duty chain all valuing at kshs.73,000 from his store, where he arrested one suspect .
In mitigation the suspects pleaded with the court to give them a fair sentence as they had families which depended on them as the bread winners.
