A 20 year old man has allegedly butchered his 80 year old grandmother over money to buy drugs.

According to a police report filed at Directorate of criminal investigations,(DCI) Urban under OB number 110/21/01/2023 the suspect Abdulwziz Ali Swaleh attacked Shariffa Ali Salim while she was sleeping in her bedroom at Mji wa Kale (old town) in Mombasa county.

It’s believed that Swaleh had demanded for money to purchase drugs Which her late grandmother declined and retreated to her bedroom.

“The suspect accosted her with a sharp knife slicing her on the neck leading to her death,”reads a police report

The report further reveals that a house help who was at home during the time raised an alarm after learning of the commotion emanating from the victims bedroom.

“She managed to raise alarm and the assailant was restrained by members of the public,”stated the report.

The suspect has since been arrested and is being held at central police station.

The deceased body has been moved to Coast General hospital awaiting to undergo postmortem.
