Police in Mombasa have launched a manhunt for a man suspected to have killed his girlfriend inside a guest room.

The man is suspected to have brutally murdered the woman before escaping leaving her badly mutilated body lying in a pool of blood inside the room where the duo had checked in since Sunday evening.

Mombasa county police Commander, Stephen Matu said that the deceased Jean Marie, a Burundian national had on Sunday at around 4:30pm booked a room in Mikma guest house located at Mwembe Tayari alongside Duice Mirigo Ogembo who is believed to be the her boyfriend.

Matu noted that the brutal murder incident was reported to police by a guard on a night shift at the guest house who raised an alarm after he noticed a naked body soaked in a pool of blood in one of the rooms.

The suspect is said to have escaped a few moments later through the window of the guest room before police could arrive.

Matu said that police at Central police station had received a distress report from a security guard manning the guest house alerting them of a body that had been discovered lying in a pool of blood in one of the rooms.

“Upon arrival, police found a lifeless body of a woman lying in a pool of blood,the body had multiple physical injuries on the neck.
