Emotions ran high outside the coast general hospital as a woman who was shot three times by her police husband died. Family members together with human rights defenders were thrown into a sombre mood after Emily Masiza 30, died while receiving treatment. The mother of two was on December 6 taken to the facility with three gun shot wounds, two on her thighs and one in the the stomach and was admitted at the Coast general referral hospital intensive Care Unit where she succumbed to the injuries yesterday.
At the time of her death, a bullet was still lodged in her stomach. According to the family, Emily and her husband have been engaging in regular disputes for undisclosed reasons. Police reports indicated that the accused officer No.11020 PC Meshack Kosgei had on December 6 at around 22:09hrs allegedly shot his wife, Emily Masiza, three times inside their house in Kadzandani, Nyali Constituency. The reports further revealed that Kosgei who had been arrested and remanded at Nyali police station on miscellaneous applications pending investigations will now be charged with murder contrary to section 203 as read with section 204 of the penal code. A Ceska pistol loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition and one used catridge recovered during the arrest had been forwarded to DCI for forensic analysis..
